Academics at Proctor offer a core curriculum of college preparatory courses augmented by an extensive, rich array of electives. Honors sections in science and mathematics and Advanced Placement courses in twelve subjects provide rigorous challenges to highest achieving students. The school is distinguished by experiential programs wholly unique to Proctor. These range from on campus electives in Forestry, Wildlife Science, Climate Science, Surveying, Forensics, Environmental Social Science, Ethical Leadership, Boatbuilding, and Kinetic Metal Sculpture to prototypic off campus study at Proctor in Spain, European Art Classroom, Ocean Classroom, Mountain Classroom, and options to study at The American School in Tangier, Morocco and the Country Day School in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Academic planning is critical at Proctor due to the diverse set of options available to each student. Each year, students meet with their advisors to map out a “Four Year Plan” that advances consideration of core requirements, electives, specialization, and experiential programs.
