Alpine Skiing - USSA/FIS

One veteran coach observes, “The Proctor Ski Area is doing more for snow sports--vertical foot for vertical foot--than any other mountain in New Hampshire. Period.”

Proctor’s USSA/FIS Team is one of the finest programs in the country. With summer and fall training camp opportunities in Europe and South America, and the extraordinary benefit of our own FIS level training facility on campus, the program has sent athletes to J3 Olympics, J2 Nationals, National J2 Championships, US Nationals and World Juniors. The balance of challenging academics and highly competitive ski racing prepares athletes for success at top-notch colleges with Division 1 ski programs.

Located within walking distance of the academic campus, Proctor Ski Area is the world’s finest high school-owned ski training facility. Top-to-bottom lighting and snow-making, and a Prinoth BR-350 groomer ensure superb conditions, and newly widened training and racing trails offer fully netted, full length training December-March. The area hosts J4 and J5 races, USSA weekend races, College Carnivals as well as National FIS qualifiers. A summer camp in Chile focuses on technical progressions and skill development. Gate training is deemphasized in favor of building strong fundamentals for the racing season. A longer pre-season camp is offered in Tignes, France in November. Thus, Proctor skiers train on race terrain seven months out of eight between August and March.

The proximity of a top-flight, on-campus training hill enables the highest calibre racers to maintain college preparatory academic excellence with minimal disruption. Classes end, and you’re on snow! Teachers are skilled, demanding and highly supportive of Proctor athletes, and Proctor graduates compete today at the nation’s finest colleges, including Middlebury, Bates, Williams, UNH and St. Lawrence. A current student is a member of the Argentine National Team!

We invite you to visit. Bring your skis and experience the finest high school ski racing program anywhere!
