Proctor Academy Boys' Varsity Soccer

Proctor has a strong soccer tradition in the Lakes Region and will look to continue that with this year’s squad. With a number of former players in NCAA competition, the team plays in the challenging Lakes Region League against Holderness School, Kimball Union Academy, Vermont Academy, Tilton School, New Hampton School, and Brewster Academy, as well as against teams outside the Lakes Region such as Gould Academy, Lawrence Academy, and Hebron Academy. This year, Proctor added a newly completed synthetic turf training facility!

Each year, the developmental nature of the soccer program allows leaders to emerge at all levels of competition.  Junior Varsity players often work their way to a varsity spot by the end of their career, and it is this desire to improve and grow that will continue to make Proctor Soccer competitive in the Lakes Region and in NEPSAC play. If you are interested in becoming a part of this tradition, please contact Head Coach Ian Hamlet.

Boys' Soccer Ties Final Match With Tilton!
In their final soccer game of their Proctor careers, the nine seniors on Proctor's boys' soccer team played their hearts out. With all nine seniors on the field to start the game, Proctor created chances up the wings, led by Nick Pascucci and Sawyer Meegan, as Connor Simon and Thaddeus Bicknell played beautiful through balls to the corners. Ben Cox, Robert Whyte, Keith Davis, Gibbs Eddy, Jackson Dickstein, and Stiles Alpeter all took turns at striker today, putting consistent pressure on Tilton's backs and working back to help out the midfield. Gerry Craig, Ian Hislop, Madison Powers, and Will Moss did well to control the back, while Inigo Jimenez-Oyarzun contributed a first half shutout. However, the unsung hero of the day was Jackson Buscher who did an outstanding job marking one of Tilton's forwards. His efforts not only frustrated the opponent, but stopped a number of scoring chances from developing. With additional support from Zac Jones, Jonathan Goodnow, and a strong second half in net from Max Barrett, every member of the team contributed in this one.

It was at the 36 minute mark where some magic happened for Proctor. After a back and forth battle throughout the entire first half that saw scoring chances from both teams, it was Robert Whyte who put the team on his back and made a 70 yard run through Tilton's entire midfield and defense, eventually creating a one-on-one opportunity with the keeper and converting. It was simply an amazing, gritty play from one of Proctor's talented sophomore class. With a 1-0 lead at the break, Proctor knew they could not get comfortable as Tilton's dangerous attack continued to create chances. After a quick restart in the 65th minute, Tilton played a long ball over Proctor's defenders and converted the opportunity. Down the stretch, neither team could capitalize and the game, and Proctor's season, ended with a very hard fought, but well-played draw.

The boys should be incredibly proud of their resiliency this season, bouncing back from an 0-7-1 start to finish the last five games 3-0-2 with only 3 goals scored against. Very well done boys, be proud of yourselves and thank you for your efforts this season!
