Around Campus
With the spring athletic season complete, a
variety of novel afternoon activities are offered.
Wednesday afternoon at 2 PM, students and teachers
cycled through a whole set of games and contests
including water balloon tossing, relay races, red
rover-red rover and kickball. Dave Kenney won a
messy, hilarious pie-eating contest in front of
the dining hall, and several tug-of-war contests
dragged students through a mud pit. On other
afternoons, teachers have sponsored swimming at
Elbow Pond, trips to Dairy Queen and ultimate
Frisbee.
Audubon enthusiast Alan McIntyre leads
bird-watching walks Tuesday and Thursday mornings
at 6:30 AM, starting at the baseball diamond.
Twenty-four species were sighted yesterday,
including Baltimore orioles, chestnut-sided and
yellow warblers, a great blue heron and cedar
waxwings.

Steve's Notes
Our website documents several hilarious events
from the past few days on campus, including an
exchange between me and some
heavy metal student
disc jockeys in Tuesday's assembly. Rumors that I
abuse domestic animals are exaggerated, if not
groundless! The truth, of course, is that I take
great pleasure from the fun, non-adversarial
relations that so many adults enjoy with students
at Proctor. This has been a great year, and while
we all look forward to some rest and recreation in
the weeks ahead, I already anticipate missing the
relationships that distinguish this community.
