Proctor Academy's first library was located in Maxwell Savage Hall and was destroyed by fire in the late 19th century. Lovejoy Library was founded in 1962 with a gift from Frederick Lovejoy and his family. Originally located in Shirley Hall, the Library was moved by faculty, students and staff to the David and Alice Fowler Learning Center in May of 1994.
Lovejoy Library's collection consists of approximately 15,000 volumes, over 125 periodicals, national and local newspapers, and online databases and indexes. Special Collections include the Multicultural Resource Center and the Environmental Regional Resource Center which serve the northern New England region as well as the Proctor community.
Lovejoy Library's computer network simplifies resource location. The card catalog is fully automated using Winnebago's CIRC/CAT for the Mac.
A staff of librarians assists students in using the libraries' resources. Librarians provide group instruction in library research and also work with students on an informal one-on-one basis.
Library services provided by Marie Montivirdi, Judy Preston and Anne Ballin.
