 | Proctor is either the most challenging of the supportive prep schools, or it is the most supportive of the challenging prep schools. Which phrase is more accurate? The first conveys the academic rigor and stimulation that enable our graduates to attend some of the nation’s finest colleges. The second phrase underscores our commitment to individual student success. Extra help, peer tutoring, Learning Skills, NTA's and effort grading all attest to Proctor’s unique brand of supportive structure. Proctor has proven that academic support enables greater student achievement and success!
What is our secret formula? It starts with setting high standards. As a college preparatory school, Proctor must prepare students to think critically, question and challenge convention, speak eloquently, write with clarity, organize their work and manage their time. Faculty push students to work hard and challenge themselves in their classes. Core requirements must be met, papers written and final exams taken. Visit Academics. |

Communication is Key! Proctor’s Advisor System takes advantage of our 5:1 student to teacher ratio. You meet every day with your faculty advisor at assembly or advisory. Your advisor is like a coach who pushes you toward greater achievement while understanding what motivates you and excites you. Your advisor is the hub of your Proctor experience. The Notice-to-Advisor (NTA) system gives students, parents, dorm parents, coaches and advisors constant, real-time feedback on each student’s progress.
Successful students are not just smarter than others students, but they possess certain skills. Good students ask questions, have strategies for learning, know how to manage time efficiently and are great self-advocates. Proctor has created a student culture where self-advocacy is both encouraged and rewarded. Mentoring, extra-help sessions, study groups and faculty accessibility are part of Proctor’s DNA, not tacked on as an afterthought.
