Taking inspiration from our motto, Proctor Academy creates a diverse learning and living community: one that values the individual and recognizes the potential of each member to stretch beyond what had been thought possible.

Balancing academic rigor, structure, and support with the freedom for students to explore, create and define themselves, Proctor encourages students to achieve their optimal growth. A deep commitment to an integrated academic support program and an emphasis on experiential learning is interwoven throughout Proctor’s academic, athletic, artistic, and environmentally conscious programs both on and off campus.

Relationships that form theFoundation for Learning

We believe students are most successful when they feel seen, known, and deeply connected to their school community. The strength of Proctor’s community comes from the depth of relationships formed between students and faculty. Teachers are advisors, coaches, and dorm parents, living alongside students and working with them throughout all areas of their life.

Proctor Academy Parent Advice

The path to happiness is not rooted in more happiness, but in productive struggle. We must communicate to our children that we are not in a pursuit of happiness, but a pursuit of balance, of experiencing joy and sorrow, despair and hope, productivity and apathy, happiness and unhappiness.

Proctor Academy Community

We are ready to embrace our role as a school in developing an intentional, reasonable, long-arching strategy to help educate, shield, and protect our students from believing the best of this world lives behind a screen.

Proctor Academy Students

We believe there are many paths to, and definitions of, success and that cookie cutters are not made for adolescents. We believe that when adults in a school are truly passionate about what they do, those sparks will carry over to the student body. Do you?

Proctor Academy Community Students

As we work to create a school community that supports our students during these root-nourishing years, we find ourselves balancing that which our students want with that which we believe they need.

The Off-CampusExperience

Proximate learning does not occur without risk, but it is in those moments where students are living their education alongside the issues they are studying that lives are transformed.

The Off-Campus Experience

Living at aBoarding School

Proctor has intentionally built a residential community filled with small, family-style dormitories that place the student and adult relationship at the center of the boarding experience.

Afternoon Program and Athletics

Every student engages in Proctor’s athletic and activity program each afternoon because we believe it is through shared, team experiences that we have the opportunity to put our core values into action.

Stewarding aSense of Place

We don’t just teach environmental stewardship at Proctor, we live it. Situated on 2,500 acres of woodlands, our campus and the trails, lakes, ponds, and adventures that lie within, connect us to the natural world that sustains us.

Environmental Stewardship in Action

Mountain Classroom Spring 2024

After around a month-long hiatus, the Mountain Classroom blog is back! As the first of four total blog posts, Molly and Niko cover just what has happened during the first two weeks of the program!

Proctor Academy Project Period

All over the Proctor proper, students are taking a different kind of road less traveled as they gently springboard back into themselves and into the final stretch of the 2023-2024 school year.

Proctor Academy Mountain Classroom

From snow to rain and cold, the Mountain Classroom group has been up to a flurry of eventful activities. Starting in the farmlands of Huntington, Vermont, the group stayed in a very pretty heated barn allowing us to settle into the frontcountry, and start our work with Penny Huett, our black ash basket instructor.

Proctor Academy Cabin Environmental Stewardship

Every year at Proctor is wholly new, yet remarkably familiar. The faces of students change over time, both as they mature and as the natural turnover of the student body every four years introduces new, eager minds ready to embark on their Proctor experience.
