Proctor's more than 135 academic courses, 30 sports and afternoon activities, 5 term-long off-campus programs, and more than 30 art electives give you the freedom to choose your own path through Proctor. Which path will you choose?
Reimagine Your Classroom
From your first moments on campus when you are preparing for Wilderness Orientation, to your last, when you are embarking on Senior Project, experiential learning permeates every layer of your Proctor education. While five term-long off-campus programs (Mountain Classroom, Ocean Classroom, Proctor in Spain, European Art Classroom, and Costa Rica Program) have been a part of Proctor’s offerings for over forty years, the foundation of experiential learning is laid in every class, afternoon activity, and interaction with faculty.
Proctor is widely recognized for national leadership in experiential education. To our community, these programs are not separate, but integral to the Proctor experience, as almost all students elect to spend a trimester or two enrolled in off-campus programs. To learn more about Proctor’s off-campus programs and our educational philosophy rooted in the belief that experiential education leads to enduring learning, explore the Off-Campus and Academic portions of Proctor’s website.
~Will '11 (Middlebury College)
Proctor has left an indelible mark, an insatiable hunger for knowledge obtained by experience, the feverish desire to do with my own two hands, to experience the world in its raw, objective form.
