Off Campus
70% of Proctor students take part in term-long off-campus programs in Spain, France, Costa Rica, the American Southwest, and aboard a 131-foot schooner in the Atlantic Ocean. Explore these programs to better understand the power of experiential learning at Proctor.

Wilderness Orientation

Since 1971, students have begun their Proctor careers by completing a wilderness orientation trip. We believe that this experience is the best way for new students to begin building relationships, self-awareness, and an understanding of Proctor. Upon arrival, each new student joins seven other students and two Proctor faculty members for a five-day and four-night backpacking trip in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. After the experience of hiking, camping, and simply having fun with the group, each student returns to campus having stretched his or her own limits physically, mentally, and sometimes, emotionally. This orientation provides each person with significant insight into what Proctor is all about: experiential education and genuine relationships.
