  A long-time resident of the Lake Sunapee region, Jen is currently entering her twenty-fifth consecutive year as a learning specialist at Proctor and her thirteenth year as the Director of Learning Skills. She attended the St. Paul's School Advanced Studies Program in Concord, NH in the summer of 1986 and graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School in Sutton, NH in 1987. In 1991, she graduated from Colorado College in Colorado Springs with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Central American Culture and Society, having spent her senior fall living and studying in San Jose, Costa Rica through an Associated Colleges of the Midwest study abroad program.

   

  After graduating from Colorado College, Jen embarked on her lengthy career in the field of education. She first worked as a paraprofessional in special education classes at Kearsarge Regional Middle School in New London, NH. She followed up this experience with a year-long apprenticeship as a sixth-grade teacher at New Canaan Country School in CT and then taught at Proctor as a learning specialist for one year from 1993-1994. In subsequent years, she was an advisor, learning specialist, and sixth-grade English and social science teacher at Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, NH. In 1998, she returned to Proctor to resume her responsibilities as a full-time learning specialist. Desiring to enhance her own understanding of language-based learning difficulties and expand her tool kit as a classroom teacher and learning specialist, she enrolled in the M.Ed. program at Plymouth State University and obtained her NH K-12 Teacher Certification as a Reading & Writing Specialist in 2000. To advance her skills in the area of executive functioning/ADHD coaching, she completed a graduate certificate program from the University of New Hampshire at Manchester in Coaching Children and Teens with ADHD in 2009.

   

  Believing that ongoing professional development is key to serving her students and colleagues effectively and keeping her well-apprised of changes in the field of learning and education, Jen reads a wide variety of professional publications and journals each year, and regularly participates in conferences in the field of learning disabilities, including workshops at the Carroll School, Landmark School, Landmark College, as well as conferences and summer institutes offered by the Learning & the Brain®  organization. Jen is a member of NEALS, the Northeast Association of Learning Specialists, "the largest professional organization for Learning Specialists in New England." She currently resides in Springfield, NH with her husband, Dana (Proctor class of '86), and their three children: Sage '18, Ashley '21, and Camden '21. Jen's interests include reading, traveling, hiking, and spending time with her family and their yellow Lab, Bella, in the outdoors.

  Wendy J McLeod 

  Learning Skills Office Manager, Nonstandard Testing Coordinator

  Wendy is a long-time resident of Andover, NH and has worked at Proctor Academy since September of 2000. Prior to Proctor, Wendy worked as a financial analyst/accountant in the health care and health insurance fields. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Southern NH University and has also completed coursework and in-service training in special education.
  
  Currently, Wendy serves as the Office Manager for the Learning Skills Department at Proctor where she provides administrative support to the department head, 17 learning specialists, and the administration as needed. In addition, Wendy is the Non-standard Testing Coordinator at Proctor which involves application, monitoring, and management of documentation related to students’ accommodations for College Board and ACT tests. She also provides support and assistance to students as needed with regard to scheduling, technology, testing, and other issues as they navigate their way through Learning Skills.

   

  
  Wendy is a fan of various Proctor teams and enjoys keeping up-to-date on alumni sporting achievements. Her interests include reading, music, running and other outdoor activities with her family.

  Lauren Cole-Johnson

  Bio

  Lauren lives with her husband, Erik (World Language Department); her daughter, Ingrid ’20; her son, Niko ‘25; and their mini labradoodle, Maya, in Newbury, NH. Lauren enjoys gardening, playing ice hockey, rowing, and creating art projects.

  
  

  Lauren completed her undergraduate degree, a B.A. in American Studies with a minor in Studio Art from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Lauren worked in Proctor’s Learning Skills Department for eight years, where she established the strong roots of her philosophy and practice as an educator. Lauren lived in Lucca, Italy for a year with her family, and taught English to Italian fourth graders. Subsequent to her family’s immersive sabbatical year abroad, Lauren was employed in the Kearsarge Regional School District, at Bradford Elementary as a paraprofessional in all grades. While working in the Kearsarge District, Lauren continued her growth as an educator, through Responsive Classroom training, online classes in Inquiry-Based Learning, and graduate-level credits in Assistive Technology through Landmark College’s Institute for Research and Training. Lauren returned to the Learning Skills Department in 2016. In the summer of 2022, Lauren completed her M.Ed., with certification in Dyslexia Studies, through Antioch University’s Experienced Educators program.

  Lynn P Cox

  Originally from Northern New Jersey, Lynn graduated with a degree in Music Performance from Plymouth State College in 1981. After taking graduate classes in Library Science and working in UNH’s Dimond Library, she left for Tufts University where she worked as Music Library Assistant for several years. Returning to New Hampshire in the late 1980’s, Lynn worked at New Hampshire Public Television in the Programming Department while attending classes towards her Masters Degree in Education, in Reading.  It was during this time that Lynn married long-time friend, Jim Cox, current Director of Technology at Proctor and moved to Andover.

   

  Since then, Lynn raised her two children, Ben ’13 and Will ‘16 in Andover while working full time for Learning Skills. She and Jim were MacKenzie House Dorm Parents for nine years and now live in a historic 1803 farm house in East Andover.  Lynn has participated in many conferences in the field of learning disabilities over the years including workshops at Landmark School, Landmark College, and several Learning and the Brain Conferences with Harvard University, among others. To better understand the coaching approach for assisting students with ADHD, Lynn acquired a certificate in Coaching Children and Teens with ADHD from the University of New Hampshire in 2010.

  
  In 2011, Lynn left Proctor to work at Colby-Sawyer College Access Resources Department as a Learning Specialist and Disability Coordinator. Here she gained first-hand knowledge of the laws and policies governing the rights and accommodations for students with disabilities at the college level. She attended the three-day Postsecondary Disability Training Institute in Philadelphia in 2012, as well as several Assistive Technology workshops. Lynn returned to Proctor Learning Skills in the Fall of 2013 to be nearer to her family. She continued to maintain part-time status with the Access Resources Department at Colby-Sawyer for several years while working in Learning Skills.

  
  Lynn spends her spare time studying music, in the past preparing for performances with the New Hampshire Master Chorale, a small choral ensemble with professional musicians at its core, and more recently with Concord Chorale. Besides playing tennis with her family, her other loves are cross-country skiing, kayak camping on the coast of Maine, riding her bike, and learning the ukulele.

  Karine Dumont

  Bio

  Originally from France, Karine studied at Middlebury College, where she earned a teaching certification in addition to a B.A. and M.A. in Spanish. She first joined Proctor’s community in 1993 as a Spanish and French teacher in the World Language Department, serving additionally as a dorm parent, coach, and advisor. Karine chaired the department before moving to Spain as co-director of the Segovia program for three years, eventually leaving the community to raise a family and be with her husband through various diplomatic and military assignments.  

   

  After Proctor, Karine taught Spanish for four years at the Potomac School in McLean, VA., then moved to Italy, California, Washington, D.C., and Norway, where she continued to teach and tutor adults.  Her keen interest in helping others grow led Karine to earn a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland and work in community mental health while supporting adolescents with anxiety and depression. 

   

  Drawing on her training in teaching and wellness, Karine loves working with high school students and their individual learning styles, to help them become successful, confident, and independent. 

   

  Karine now lives in Andover once again, with her children, Annika (PA '25) and William (PA ’24), and husband, Stuart (PA ’93). When she has free time, she enjoys spending it with her family, as well as playing tennis, skiing, camping, and driving her sewing machine.

  Anna-Marie Hanlon

  Originally from Lynn, MA, Anna-Marie studied computer programming and accounting at North Shore College in Massachusetts. In 1986, Anna-Marie married her husband Jim and moved to Andover, NH. They have two children, Ashley ‘07 and James ’10. Anna-Marie worked at the local public school, Andover Elementary/Middle School, and in the after-school program before starting work at Proctor Academy in 1999. Anna-Marie worked as Proctor's Apple Certified Technician for over 19 years. Her love for learning brought her back to school where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Development with a focus on Learning Disabilities. In 2020, she completed a graduate certificate at UNH for Assistive Technology. Currently, she is enrolled at Lesley University and working to complete her M.Ed. in Language and Literacy.
  
  

  When not working, Anna loves to spend time with her children, grandson, husband, and dog Brady. Anna also likes to travel, kayak, hike, draw, and paint.

  Kathryn E Jones

  Originally from Washington, CT, Kate graduated with a degree in Philosophy from Muhlenberg College. She went on to teach math, writing, and language tutorials at the Greenwood School where she developed her skills and her love of education.  

  Kate then moved to Andover to work as a learning specialist and dorm parent at Proctor between 2008-2018. She started a family here, and is raising twin boys who hope to be future Hornets themselves someday! Kate left Proctor in 2018 and explored teaching in a variety of different environments including public schools, small private schools, and therapeutic programs. She has since returned to Learning Skills and is thrilled to be back in the incredibly warm Proctor community she loves and believes in so much.

  Kate has done graduate coursework on creativity and innovation, educational administration, and special education. She is currently in pursuit of her special education certification in the State of New Hampshire. She is an enthusiastic educator who believes that with the proper support and skill development, students who once struggled will be able to reach their true academic potential and, as Proctor’s motto states, “Live to Learn.”

  Kate owns a home nearby in Andover where she lives with her twins, Finn and Leo, her partner, Dan, and their myriad pets. She enjoys singing, crafting, pottery, skiing, and spending time outside enjoying the natural beauty of New Hampshire.

  Michael B Littman

  Michael grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, discovering a love for Theater early on in High School. Since graduating from Towson State University in 1970 with a B. A. in Theater Arts, Michael has been acting, writing, and directing plays, and teaching all levels of students from kindergarten to college.
  
  He is a founding member of the Round House Theater in Maryland where he performed on the mainstage, taught acting and improvisation, and created and toured original productions for elementary and high school audiences throughout Maryland, and Washington D. C..
  
  He studied Improvisation and Mime with Tony Montanaro at The Celebration Barn Theater in Maine, taught at the Ringling Brothers Clown College in Venice, Florida, and, for six years, was an actor/teacher with The Creative Arts Team, a Theater-in-Education company in residence at New York University, performing issue-oriented theater and teaching workshops for at-risk junior high school students in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. While at NYU, he took graduate courses in Education, working towards his Masters degree. Michael has taught at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire, and at Illinois State University, where he earned an MFA in Directing. Michael has taught at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire, and at Illinois State University, where he earned an MFA in Directing. Most recently, he attended the Landmark College Summer Institute in 2017, exploring the role of executive function in the process of learning, the importance of supportive study skills, and strategies for reading and writing.
  
  In 1999, he joined the faculty at Proctor Academy, and, since then, has taught Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Writing for Film and TV,  Introduction to Literature, American Literature, and has been a Learning Skills Specialist. Michael ran the Drama program with his wife, Terry Stoecker, directing the fall plays and spring musicals for 15 years.

  Annie T MacKenzie

  Bio

  Annie and her husband Matt enjoy having the opportunity to teach and learn at Proctor Academy. They, along with their two daughters, Braeden and Sasha, also enjoy spending time at their home in Andover during the summers and living in Sally B dorm during the school year. Annie attended Berkshire School in high school and graduated in 1989. Because she was a boarder, she empathizes with students who are far from home and encourages them to make the best of their wonderful opportunities at Proctor. She graduated from UNH in 1993, with a degree in Social Work, specializing in counseling high-school students.
  
  

  After graduating from college, Annie taught “youth-at-risk” in the classroom at the Spurwink School in Newport, NH. She then moved to Idaho to continue working with “at-risk” high-school students in a wilderness setting at the SUWS program. After several years at SUWS, Annie began instructing Outward Bound courses in Ely, Minnesota. Annie enjoyed watching students who considered themselves unsuccessful in school succeed on tough climbs, long paddles, and through wilderness experiences in general. She noted that the confidence found in the wilderness could be directly translated into classroom learning.
  
  

  In 1999, Annie began working for the Proctor Academy Mountain Classroom Program, where she could share her love of wilderness, travel, and learning with Proctor students. She spent two years on the road with Mountain Classroom and returned to Proctor full time in the fall of 2001. Annie was awarded the Renaissance Teaching award in 2009, highlighting her passion for teaching at Proctor. Her particular interest in developing students’ confidence in academics led her back to school to earn her Masters in Education. She graduated in 2010 with her M.Ed, a NH K-12 Teacher Certification as a Reading and Writing Specialist, and is also a Certified Coach for Children and Teens with ADHD. She currently teaches in the Learning Skills Department and serves as a dorm parent and advisor to Proctor students.

  Casey McCormack

  Bio

  Casey attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine and graduated with a bachelor degree in American Cultural Studies in 2008. He was actively involved across many extracurricular areas, such as varsity football and baseball, the hunting and fishing club, and the investment club. His college experience also included a semester abroad in 2007 at the University of Victoria in Wellington, New Zealand where he was able to travel extensively and studied New Zealand History and Culture.
  
  While still enrolled in college, Casey began working in education as a substitute teacher. His liberal arts education enabled him to be competent in a variety of disciplines allowing him to substitute teach at his alma mater, Keene High School. Shortly after graduation from Bates College in 2008, he accepted a full – time position as a teacher of Civil and Criminal Law at Keene High School. Casey is also nearing the completion of his New Hampshire State Teacher Alternative Certification in Grades 8 – 12 in the area of Social Studies, and he is looking forward to continuing his professional development here at Proctor.
  
  Working with young people quickly became comfortable to Casey, and after many seasons of playing sports, he began his coaching career as an assistant baseball coach at KHS. The following school year, Casey undertook another section of the Social Studies discipline at KHS as an Ancient World Cultures teacher, and continued coaching baseball and included a season with the Keene Blue Jays (a local collegiate summer team). In 2010, Casey moved north and began teaching in Newport, New Hampshire and coaching in Andover, New Hampshire. He worked as a lead teacher at Newport Middle High School in a behavioral program.
  
  While teaching during the day, he continued his coaching endeavors at Proctor Academy as a varsity football coach, JV baseball coach, and surrogate dorm parent.

  Kristen G Nesbitt

  Kristen earned her BA in Education and Reading Instruction from Wittenberg University and her M.Ed. in Gifted Education and Curriculum and Instruction, from Notre Dame College. After spending twenty years at Proctor teaching in the Learning Skills Department, Kristen joined the Peace Corps where she served in Ukraine and taught English at Zhytomyr State Technical University from 2012-2014. After teaching for several years at Colby-Sawyer College, she returned to PA in 2018 as the Assistant Librarian, Writing Lab and Peer Tutoring Coordinator, and yoga teacher. Kristen currently directs the Writing Lab and teaches in the Learning Skills Department. Her hobbies include traveling the world, doing service work, practicing yoga, and being a life-long learner.

  Lori attended Dedham Country Day school before joining the Proctor Academy community for four years of high school. While at Proctor she participated in Ocean Classroom and Proctor en Segovia, and took her spirit of adventure with her as she moved on to college.
  
  

  At Gettysburg College she studied Environmental Science and Biology and worked as a part of the Gettysburg Recreational Adventure Board leading backcountry camping trips.
  
  

  She went on to earn her Ed. M. at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in the Mind, Brain, and Education program and a graduate certificate in Dyslexia and Language Based Learning Disabilities from Southern New Hampshire University. She is thrilled to be living and working in a community that brings her passions together: environmental ethics, respect for individual learning style, and a deep understanding of the interconnection between the health of people and the natural world. She is happy to be applying all she has learned to facilitate the growth and learning of her students.

  Suzanne Rasweiler is a graduate of Tilton School ’82 and Colby-Sawyer College ’86. After graduating in 1986 with a B.S. in Education and minor in Psychology, Raz began her teaching career at the Andover Elementary School.
  
  

  During her tenure at AEMS, she taught grades 1-4, coached middle school soccer and was also the school’s Athletic Director. After an extended maternity leave, Raz returned to AEMS to be the music teacher for grades K-8. In 1999, she joined the Proctor Community and soon became the Director of Proctor’s Childcare Center.
  
  

  Her passion for making a difference in the lives of students is what brought Raz to the Learning Skills Department. She considers herself a “lifelong learner” and enjoys continuing education opportunities. Recently, she has earned graduate credit from coursework in Neuropsychological Evaluations and Learning Disabilities from The Landmark School in Beverly, MA. In addition, she has participated in various workshops offered by Landmark College in Putney, VT. Raz is currently a member of NEALS, the Northeast Association of Learning Specialists and LDAA, Learning Disabilities Association of America.
  
  

  Raz and her daughter Molly P'15 live in Burbank East dorm where Raz enjoys being the dorm parent to a dozen freshman boys and Molly returns home to live during breaks from being a full time student at UNH. Raz's interests include Native American singing and drumming, cooking over an open fire, being outdoors and hiking with her loyal companion,Gentle Ben, her Golden Retriever puppy.

  Linda has been connected to the New London area for over thirty years. Growing up in Andover, Massachusetts, her family had a vacation house near Pleasant Lake where they enjoyed the beach in the summer and skiing in the winter. After graduating high school from The Pingree School in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, Linda's family moved to New London permanently.
  
  

  Linda received her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation from Springfield College where she also played lacrosse. She then continued her education at Wheelock College, earning a Master's degree in Special Education. Linda has earned additional credits in learning disabilities courses from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina and is a member of the Northeast Association of Learning Disabilities.
  
  

  A former military spouse, Linda has lived in numerous places, most notably Germany and California. During her travels, she taught in private and public schools and both special education and regular education classes, resulting in a broad range of knowledge in teaching children.

   

  Linda lives in New London and both her children graduated from Proctor Academy. Her son, Kyle '13, works for the Pathology Laboratory at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and her daughter, Julia '14, works for Fidelity Investments in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
  
  

  Linda has previously held several roles at Proctor including the Day Student coordinator, coach for the developmental ski team and the girls' junior varsity lacrosse team, and a dorm surrogate.  This is her twelfth year as a learning specialist at Proctor.

Her daughter, Julia '14, graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California with a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, and currently, she works for Fidelity in Smithfield, RI.

   

  Linda is a certified ski instructor and has been a past coach for Proctor's developmental ski team in the winter and an assistant junior varsity coach for girl's lacrosse. She also served as Proctor's Day Student Coordinator for many years.

  Joan D Saunders 

  Learning Specialist/Tech Theater Coach

  Joan relocated to the  Kearsarge region in 1999 and currently lives in Warner, NH with her husband, George, her sons, Ryan (PA ‘12) and Connor (PA ‘13) and her daughter, Linnea (PA ’17). Her daughter, Morgan (PA ‘08), is attending The Columbia University Law School. Joan and her family are outdoor enthusiasts, enjoying the lakes and mountains of New England throughout the year, especially swimming, hiking, and boating.

   

  After graduating from Saint Michael’s College in 1982 with a B.A. in English and a second major in Fine Arts/Drama, Joan worked in theatre, fine arts, and education. She studied and worked at the University of Connecticut and the Catholic University of America. After working for the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, NY,  Joan began her teaching career. She earned her M.Ed. at Saint Peter’s College in 1990. Joan joined the St. Peter’s Department of Education as a lecturer and adjunct professor, working with undergraduate and graduate students until 1999. Whether teaching incoming freshman or supervising student teachers, Joan worked to continue teaching classes in adult literacy, study skills, and SAT preparations for high school students. Her focus on reading, writing, and learning skills led her to collaboration with the St. Peter’s Institute for Urban Education and the Summer Academy Program.

   

  Once settled in Warner, Joan worked to promote community involvement, literacy, and social activism, writing for a local paper. She volunteered and worked as an educator in the Kearsarge Regional School District for two years. She was a paraprofessional in special education, assisting students with learning differences who attended  the Kearsarge Regional Elementary School in New London, NH.

   

  Joan’s opportunity to refocus herself on secondary students’ learning and literacy came in 2008, when she became a full-time learning specialist in Proctor's Learning Skills Department. To advance her skills in the area of executive functioning/ADHD coaching, as well as improve her teaching skills, Joan has attended several workshops and classes at The Landmark Institute of Education and Landmark College. She recently attended The Learning and The Brain Conference of 2013 in Boston, MA. Since 2004, Joan has worked in the Proctor’s Norris Family Theatre as a seamstress, and she now collaborates and directs  the technical work for costumes and props for each year’s productions.

  Kyle L Tremblay 

  Dean of Residential Life/ Learning Skills Specialist

  Bio

  Kyle Tremblay was born and raised in southern New Hampshire. She currently resides on campus with her husband Mark, and their two children. 
  
  

  Kyle earned her B.A. in psychology from The University of New Hampshire in 2004. Kyle continued her education at Springfield College, earning her Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2006. Kyle is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with the NH Board of Mental Health and holds a certification in coaching children and teens with ADHD. 

   

  Kyle was hired at Proctor Academy in 2006. She is a Learning Specialist and dorm surrogate. Kyle is also the Dean of Residential Life and is a member of the Wellness and Student Life Teams. She enjoys working with student leaders and organizations to promote a healthy school culture. 

   

  In her free time, Kyle enjoys traveling and spending tie with her family. She has a passion for theater and dance as well as community service.

  Kayden M Will 

  Learning Specialist / Wilderness Orientation Director

  Bio

  Kayden brings a background in science teaching and outdoor education to her work with students in the Learning Skills Department. After earning a Bachelors degree from Macalester College in 1993, which included majors in Biology and Environmental Studies and a term studying ecology in Australia, she went on to work in experiential education programs for several years with the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) and the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Skills taught have included backpacking, backcountry skiing, natural history, rock-climbing, canoeing, wilderness ethics, and trail-work on courses ranging from 3- to 35-days long. After discovering a love of teaching and working with students, Kayden completed a Masters of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) and NH/ME Teacher Certification in Secondary Science at the University of New Hampshire. Her teaching inquiry work focused on differentiating instruction for various learning styles within the heterogeneously grouped classroom. Subsequently, Kayden taught at both a large, regional public high school in Maine and a small, private day school in Vermont before coming to Proctor. Courses taught have included Biology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Life Science, and Algebra 1 and have been based on hands-on, interdisciplinary instruction.

  
  After taking a year to work full-time for NOLS leading extended backcountry courses, Kayden joined the Proctor faculty as a Mountain Classroom instructor in 2006. During her two years in this position, her work focused on teaching science content in the context of place and developing strong group dynamics amongst the students. In 2008, she transitioned into an on-campus teaching position in Learning Skills. With her background in classroom teaching, experiential education, and working with students of many learning styles, Kayden has brought a variety of skills to her work at Proctor as well as continuing to develop knowledge and tools specific to the Learning Skills program through professional development. In addition to her role in Learning Skills, Kayden directs the Wilderness Orientation program and continues to be involved in Proctor’s off-campus programs as the European Art Classroom Director. Having chaperoned international service learning trips to Dominican Republic and Costa Rica for previous schools, at Proctor she has served as a chaperone for the Chamber Choir tours in Croatia/Bosnia-Herzegovina and in China.
