As you anticipate your arrival, think about your favorite Proctor memories: waking up to a desert sunrise on Mountain Classroom, jumping through the ice during Polar Swim, scoring a goal under the lights and sprinting to the student section, laughing with friends at the swinging bridge, playing hacky sack on the turf. Each of these moments have something in common: phones are not present. 

This July, a group of Proctor students and members of our professional community traveled to South Dakota to spend ten days as guests on the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Indian Reservations, living and working alongside the members of the Sicangu and Oglala communities who welcomed them.

As the construction of Proctor Academy’s new $8M Health and Well-Being Center nears completion, Proctor, Lavalee Brensigner, and HP Cummings Construction are thrilled to report that after whole-building testing, air tightness performance far surpasses Passive House and high-performance building standards.

As of July 23, 2026, Proctor Academy has formally granted a perpetual recreational trail easement to the Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway Coalition (SRKGC), securing permanent foot-access for outdoor enthusiasts along key portions of the region's interconnected trail network

Proctor’s summer off-campus programs and service trips ask students to immerse themselves in an unfamiliar place and outside of their comfort zones, to lean into discomfort and challenge, and to return with an expanded perspective on the world and their place in it.

If we believe our job is to prepare students for both college and life, we must continually ask ourselves what skills and experiences our students need in order to effectively navigate the human experience.

Shared experiences with others do more for community building than anything else. If we want to bridge the divide in our society, we need to spend more time working alongside each other. 

Each year, approximately 20% of Proctor Academy's graduating class go on to compete in collegiate athletics, while many others continue to pursue their passions in the visual and performing arts.
