Kayak Racing Spring Coed
Proctor's spring kayaking program is for intermediate to advanced kayakers. We train Whitewater Slalom Kayaking on the Blackwater River between Proctor’s main campus and Proctor Ski Area. As the snow melts, the water rises and the rivers become perfect for training and racing Whitewater Slalom Canoe and Kayaks, an Olympic sport. Proctor kayak racers participate in the New England Slalom Series (NESS), as well as the oldest Whitewater Slalom race in the country hosted by the Dartmouth Ledyard Canoe Club, the Mascoma Slalom. Depending on the year and river levels we may allow beginners. The spring program was started by the legendary Bert Hinkley, and has produced many respected and notable paddlers in Whitewater Slalom.
