Head CoachBen Bartoldus ’10 is in his sixth year as head of Proctor Academy’s Boys’ Varsity Basketball program. A Proctor graduate, he understands the demands of life as a student-athlete at a boarding school. He earned a B.A. in History from Brandeis University ’14 and an M.Ed. from New England College ’24. He believes the school’s dual-sport model prepares students not only for collegiate athletics but also for growth in time management, community engagement, and stepping beyond their comfort zones. In addition to coaching, Bartoldus serves as Freshman Class Dean and teaches in the History Department, bringing energy and perspective to the classroom. He lives in Burbank United with his wife, Taela, their daughter, Aaliyah, and their Mini-Aussie, Brady. Ben enjoys reading, particularly in the spiritual and religious genre, taking long walks with his family, and watching basketball film.

CoachA 2012 graduate of Proctor Academy and Washington, DC native, Chris studied Public Relations at West Virginia University. Immediately after school, he followed his passion for service by supporting underserved youth through DMV nonprofits like City Kids Wilderness Project, Urban Alliance, and New Futures DC. This saw him explore the realms of college access, professional soft-skills training, and advising. After returning to Proctor in 2024 as Associate Director of Admission, he currently serves as Associate Head Coach of the Varsity Basketball team and Assistant Coach of the Varsity Football team. Chris’s other passions include Music Production and Audio Engineering. He leads the Band/Recording Afternoon Activity in the Spring, where he encourages students to pursue the creation of original music and DJing. He is an Advisor and Dorm Parent in Mary Lowell Stone dormitory, where he coincidentally resided during his Sophomore year at Proctor. Chris is excited about the opportunity to help Proctor continue its long history of welcoming students from all walks of life to “Live to Learn, Learn to Live”.
