Football has been an integral part of the Proctor community for more than a century. Beginning in 2026, Proctor will transition to an 8-man football model and compete in the NEPSAC 8-player league with eight other New England prep schools. This decision follows a comprehensive review of the program and reflects Proctor’s commitment to providing the best possible experience for our student athletes, while sustaining the competitive excellence that has long defined Proctor football. The Hornets will play an eight-game regular season with the opportunity to play in a championship at the end of the season.
We see participation in multiple sports as an advantage and expect our players to be key contributors on other varsity teams, as well as engaged, supportive members of the broader Proctor community. Whether you are new to the sport, a seasoned veteran, or a postgraduate, there is a place for you in Proctor football. Student athletes do not need years of prior experience to join the program.
The goal of the program is to cultivate a passion for football while helping athletes understand the preparation and strategy required for success. Players are instructed in proper, safety-first techniques. Games are played with intensity and with deep respect for opponents and officials. Proctor football players pursue excellence in academics, athletics, and community life. They compete with dignity in victory and defeat, and strive to live Proctor’s core values of Honesty, Compassion, Respect, and Responsibility.
