Celebrating a $10M Gift to Proctor's Future

Scott Allenby

We have much to be excited about as we approach Thanksgiving Break. We are especially thrilled to announce that Proctor has been honored with the single largest gift in Proctor’s 178 year history: a $10 million planned gift. This remarkable, anonymous, and unrestricted gift will have a profound impact on Proctor, significantly enriching our ability to impact the lives of young people through our educational model.

Proctor Academy 10M Gift

Head of School Amy Smucker notes, “This gift reflects decades of care, dedication and belief that has been poured into our students by teachers, advisors, coaches, dorm parents, and an extended Proctor family. It is a testament to the way that this community sees the possibility that lies within each and every Proctor student.” Amy adds, “This is a truly extraordinary moment for Proctor. This generous gift serves as the largest commitment made to our school, and represents a hopeful path for future generosity. Just as Proctor changes young people’s lives, this gift will transform our ability to simultaneously challenge, support and walk alongside our students as they grow and learn.”

An estate gift, or planned gift, is a commitment made through a will or trust that provides funding to the school at a future date. This anonymous estate gift adds to a rich history of planned giving at Proctor through the James L. Dunbar Society. Learn more HERE

This gift is the most recent in a year of extraordinary philanthropy for Proctor as we complete fundraising on Proctor’s new Health and Well-Being Center and Program, an $11M commitment with lead gifts of $5M, $3M, and $1M. We extend our deepest gratitude to this donor for their unprecedented belief in Proctor's mission and our future, and to all of our donors for their support of Proctor.
