How long have you been at Proctor?

Kara Hayes | Lead Counselor | 7 Years
Kyle Tremblay | Mental Health Counselor | 18 Years

What do you love most about working at Proctor?

Kara: I love the ability to work with students in different realms. Often as a counselor, I can be limited to working only in an office one to one with students. At Proctor, I have the opportunity to work with students in all different ways! I can teach yoga, lead orientation, and this summer participate in the Rosebud summer service program. I also love being on campus with two of my three kids!

Kyle: Being any part of helping young people develop is pretty amazing. In our line of work we get to guide students to conceptualize the difficult things they can overcome to achieve their goals or find meaning in their journey. Proctor understands the importance of relationships and, as counselors, one of our main responsibilities is to create meaningful connections that serve as a catalyst for development and success. It doesn't get much better than that.

If you could take part in ONE of Proctor's Off-Campus Programs or take ONE class at Proctor, what would it be?

Kara: Unfair question, it would be so hard to choose. Although, my daughter Hayden ‘24 was super sea-sick on Ocean Classroom, that would be tough for me.

Kyle: ONE? That's really difficult. It might surprise some people, but I think I would have to choose Mountain Classroom. The opportunity to push outside of my comfort zone and be a part of something so unique within a small group of people, unplugged, changes people. I have seen so many transformations in our students who have participated that it's hard not to want to go!

What makes you proud of being a part of the Proctor community/of our students?

Kara: There is so much to be proud of as part of this community. The unique programming that is offered here to help students grow is up there, and I also feel really fortunate to have my own kids being a part of this community.

Kyle: I am very proud of the community here. I honestly don't think it exists many other places at the same depth. I am so proud when I see our students taking the reins and stewarding the development of community and connection. Our candidates for School Leader this year are a great example. I hope everyone can listen to their speeches.

What is one fun fact or hidden talent that you have?

Kara: Hmmm…..
Kyle: I've got a pretty solid corn hole game :)
