Community Profile: The Proctor Bookstore Team

Scott Allenby

On the ground floor of Maxwell Savage Hall, tucked next to the stairwell and behind dozens of packages labeled with students and faculty names sits the Proctor Bookstore. A stop for almost every student on their daily journey through campus, the Bookstore’s bowl of candy (usually Jolly Ranchers, but sometimes a treat of Sunkist Fruit Gems), school supplies, apparel, and freshly delivered packages from FedEx or UPS serve as a highlight. For Bookstore Manager Alex Estin ‘83 and Assistant Hope Stevens, the role of running the operation has shifted significantly since Amazon’s rise to prominence, but the core of their connection to students remains the same. In this week’s Community Profile, we shine a spotlight on Alex and Hope. If you happen to see Alex or Hope over Spring Family Weekend, say “thank you” for working behind the scenes to help Proctor run smoothly!
