A seasoned educator and coach with a track record of building and elevating hockey programs, Tim joins Proctor following a transformative tenure at NC State where he orchestrated a historic ascent from regional club status to a nationally prominent ACHA Division 1 program, amassing a 115-62-2 record and securing four ACCHL titles. Beyond the scoreboard, Tim revolutionized the program’s digital presence, securing national coverage on ESPN+ and SportsCenter and providing the necessary digital resources to attract and recruit high level athletes to the program. Drawing on his experience as Dean of Students and Director of Strategic Initiatives at Saint Mary’s School (Raleigh, NC), Director of Campus Life at IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL), and his role as Founding Head of School at Calvert Ice Academy, Tim views the rink as a critical classroom that reflects the school’s core values. His coaching and recruiting philosophy centers on identifying high-level student-athletes who are equally committed to academic excellence and community engagement. This approach is backed by his proven results at the collegiate level, where his teams consistently maintained a 3.39 GPA and a near-perfect graduation rate.

Tim attended Millbrook School before matriculating to Fairfield University, earning a B.A. in Politics, and American University, earning an M.A. in Political Science. Returning to the New England boarding school world, where he previously served in roles at Worcester Academy and Tilton School, Tim understands the importance of an all-in commitment to a campus community. As he shared during the hiring process, "Culture is everything and non-negotiable. I look forward to ensuring that Proctor’s hockey program is not an island, but a driving force for the school’s cultural and institutional sustainability."

Tim is excited to join the Proctor community with his wife, Mary-Ellen, and their two daughters. In addition to his coaching duties, Tim will join Proctor’s Admissions Team as an Associate Director and Director of Financial Aid and will live in a dorm with his family. Tim shares, “Our family is beyond excited to be joining the Proctor community and humbled to be succeeding Mike Walsh. I am looking to build off Mike's legacy as we work to take Proctor into its next era of hockey. I want to thank everyone at Proctor for their warm welcome, and the Proctor administration for the trust they are putting in me to steward Proctor’s hockey team into the next generation. From when I first set foot on the campus almost 22 years ago, it has been a school I have admired and respected. In particular, I am excited to put Proctor's mission to work on the ice as we work towards having each member of our team reach and stretch beyond the potential they thought possible. I am looking forward to building relationships with my players, colleagues, and alumni in the near future.  For now, I am counting down the days until we have ‘The Ted’ rocking!"

Tim possesses a unique ability to build relationships and make connections, complemented by a capacity to analyze data and think strategically. These qualities, in addition to his experience working in independent schools and colleges over the past two decades, will help our team move forward in our enrollment strategy/process.”

Athletic Director Gregor Makechnie ‘90 adds, “We are excited to welcome Tim to Proctor Academy. His tenure as Head Hockey Coach at NC State is an example of his capacity, through focus, drive, and intentional entrepreneurial effort, to transform what was a regional club program to a nationally recognized powerhouse. Tim is a thoughtful leader who cares deeply about the development of the athletes he coaches. We are confident he will bring this same focus and holistic athlete development model to the Proctor community.”
