Proctor Athletics: Fall 2025 Award Winners and Recognitions

Scott Allenby

Over the past ten weeks, athletes and coaches have worked tirelessly to help their teams become the best version of themselves. They have battled through injuries, tough losses, and challenging weather, all while keeping a clear focus on the belief that athletics teaches life lessons that transcend the field or race course. While we are thrilled with the post-season bid for our field hockey team and outstanding finishes in league competition for our mountain bikers (4th overall in the NNEMS), cross country runners (2nd in the Lakes Region for girls!), we are most proud of the effort and commitment our students and coaches demonstrated this season. Our teams have battled and worked together each and every day. We cannot ask for anything more.

The end of the season affords teams an opportunity for players and coaches to recognize individuals for outstanding leadership and contributions to Proctor Athletics. Below, we recognize Marvin Award winners and team awards, as well as NEPSAC and Lakes Region All-Stars honors.

MARVIN AWARD

The Marvin Award is given each season to two students who are new to Proctor for their leadership, sportsmanship, and ability.

Lila Jarrett '27 - GIRLS SOCCER

It is challenging to put into words how Lila impacts her team. From a purely data-driven point of view, she leads her team in assists and minutes played. Her abilities as a playmaker are immediately evident as she plays on both her left and her right foot without hesitation, she will hold the ball with a defender on her back and she will chase down a through ball to space. She has played all but 20 minutes of every game of this season.  And she will represent Proctor at the NEPSAC Junior All-Star Game on Sunday. These details alone are all very impressive but the impact she has goes far deeper than on-field performance. Lila has earned the respect and admiration of her teammates for her kind humility and her dedication to the game; if you are an early riser you have possibly seen her logging morning miles in the gym or getting extra shooting reps on the turf. Her strength as a player is only surpassed by the strength of her character. Lila is a reliable player, a resilient competitor, and a supportive leader. She is an ideal teammate who raises the level of everyone she plays with. So, in short, it might be said that Lila's impact on her team is simply: complete.

Gianni Birchall '28 - FOOTBALL

Gianni is a Running Back and Linebacker from Methuen, MA. Gianni possesses the physical attributes needed to play his position at a high level. He has been a tremendous role player for offense, defense, and special teams. He has played multiple positions on each side of the ball, but that is not what defines him. He arrives at every practice with tenacity and commitment to get better. He is coachable, a sportsman, and a ferocious competitor. What makes it even more impressive is what he accomplishes on a football field, and he does it all with a smile on his face. Being only a sophomore, Gianni has earned his teammates and coaches' respect through his hard work, talent, and leadership. There is no doubt that Gianni is deserving of the Marvin Award.
