Thank You to This Year's Departing Professional Community Members

Ryan Graumann

When Proctor alumni run into each other out in the real world - whether it is on a gravel ride in Colorado, at a music venue, or on the streets of Boston, their shared experiences create an immediate bond that transcends their years spent on campus in Andover, New Hampshire. Central to these shared experiences are the faculty and staff who make Proctor, Proctor. Many members of our professional community choose to make Proctor their home for their entire career, while others spend a chapter of their life with us, but all leave an indelible mark on our community and the lives of their students. This year, we bid farewell to the following professional community members and thank them for their service to Proctor’s mission.

Proctor Academy Professional Community

Buz Morison | 2009-2026 | Science Department, Nordic Skiing

A seasoned educator before he landed at Proctor in 2009, Buz has elevated the academic and athletic experiences of students for seventeen years through his teaching high-level science and math courses and serving as Proctor’s head Nordic skiing coach. His pure enthusiasm for learning permeates every interaction with colleagues and students as his energy pours out of him and into others. Fellow Nordic coach Jennifer Summers reflected on Buz’s impact on both students and adults during his tenure, “Buz has taught me more about what it takes to be a patient, kind, and effective coach and teacher than anyone else. His passion for every aspect of Nordic skiing is inspirational as he modeled lifelong learning (always testing new waxes and training techniques), and talking neuroscience on the side with our students.” Countless Proctor students have pursued PhD studies because of Buz’s Neuroscience, Calculus, and Physics courses, not because they were driven to do so, but because Buz showed them how to be curious, to wrestle with problems, and to seek more questions rather than answers. Congratulations on your retirement, Buz, and we have confidence we will still see you in the Nordic room and trails next year!

Proctor Academy Educators

Linda Sargent | 2011-2026 | Learning Skills Department

Linda joined Proctor’s Learning Skills Department in 2011 and immediately jumped into her work supporting her students with passion, attention to detail, and deep commitment to student success. Throughout the past sixteen years, Linda’s students felt her love and support at all times. Whether it was on the sidelines as a lacrosse coach or in a Learning Skills tutorial, her impact on Proctor has been one of serving as a steadfast, consistent presence for those around her. Congratulations on your retirement, Linda!
