Each Tuesday throughout the school year, advisory groups stop by the Development Office to learn more about The Proctor Fund. This year, fifteen advisory groups and nearly one hundred students engaged with our Development Team to demystify school finances and explore the vital role philanthropy plays in their daily lives. By introducing our students to these concepts early, we help shift their perspective from being mere consumers of an education to true stewards of Proctor, cultivating a lifelong habit of community support and gratitude. For many students, this may be the first time they understand that tuition alone does not cover the full cost of a Proctor education, and that the experiences they value most each day are sustained by a diverse, multi-generational community of supporters who continue to invest in Proctor.

A seemingly uneventful turn of the calendar to July next week is actually quite significant for the school, as June 30 marks the close of Proctor's fiscal year and another cycle of annual giving. We do not talk often about school finances, but there is much to celebrate as we approach the deadline. Thanks to the collective generosity of alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends, The Proctor Fund is on target to reach the $1.9 million goal for 2025-2026. Representing roughly 7% of Proctor's annual operating budget, The Proctor Fund helps sustain the experiential educational model that defines this place.

The annual budget, determined by our Board of Trustees, supports the wide breadth of transformative on- and off-campus opportunities, our professional community, and the extensive physical plant and 2,500 acres that are paramount to the student experience, enabling Proctor to be a leader in experiential education, integrated academic support, and a holistic approach to student health and well-being.

With just a few days remaining in the fiscal year, we have one final goal in front of us – participation! Each constituency connects to Proctor in a unique way and desires to give back to the programs, people, and sense of place that shaped their journey. Some members of our community make leadership commitments while others give $5, $50, or $500. Every single gift matters. Participation is the ultimate vote of confidence – accounting for engaged members of the extended Proctor family, not dollar amounts, and signaling to the world that those who know Proctor best believe deeply in its future.

Gratitude is top of mind this summer as we near the completion and move-in date of the new Health and Well-Being Center (which you can read more about HERE), and we are powerfully and tangibly reminded of why this generosity matters, allowing each student to be known, challenged, and supported as they discover who they are and how they learn so they can go on to live a life of joy and purpose. Every building that comes online, every program generously funded, and every annual gift given directly fuels that mission.

A sincere thank you from all of us at Proctor to the donors who have already contributed to this year's Proctor Fund. If you have not yet made a gift this year, please consider doing so today. There is still time to help us finish another incredible year strong.
