Proctor en Segovia students have completed their winter term abroad, returning with expanded worldviews, improved Spanish language skills, and an appreciation for the kindness they found in a small Spanish city an ocean away from home. 

During each Mountain Classroom term, students with varied outdoor experience undergo a remarkable transformation through the deliberate progression of increasing responsibility and outdoor skills development.

         As six Proctor sophomores conclude their term abroad in Costa Rica, they have discovered that some of their most significant growth comes from embracing challenges and stepping outside their comfort zones. Navigating daily life in a new culture – whether working through language barriers with host families or finding the courage to explore independently – has fostered self-sufficiency and confidence.

To commence: to have or make a beginning, to start. At 4:00 pm today, long-awaited admissions decisions hit the inboxes of a remarkable pool of applicants. For this group of future Hornets, it is the commencement of their Proctor journey, and in our view, the start of something great.

During end of season gatherings, teams recognized individual award recipients. Congratulations to the following award winners. 

As Proctor's European Art Classroom Winter 2024-2025 program concludes, students reflect on their eight weeks living and creating art in Aix-en-Provence, sharing memorable experiences from their travels to Paris, Madrid, and Florence and highlighting how this immersive cultural and artistic journey has influenced their perspectives.

Jane '25 beautifully captures the Winter Mountain Classroom experience through the lens of rock climbing – where end-of-term research projects at Lake Mead represented the moment when "the top of the climbing route was in sight," and each phase of their term formed part of an extended ascent from initial safety checks to the final push toward the summit.

During their winter term studying abroad in Segovia, Spain, Proctor en Segovia students traveled to the Basque Country, an autonomous community (region) in northern Spain with a unique culture, language, and identity.

With impressive performances at the Lakes Region Championship and NEPSAC Championships at Cannon Mountain, where the girls team won the overall NEPSAC Class B title, the 2024-2025 Varsity Alpine squad continues to demonstrate their ability to compete at the highest levels while maintaining a culture that balances individual achievement with support of teammates and team success.
