Hornets Fall Short
Proctor Academy's boys' varsity basketball team faced off against Gould Academy for the third time this season, looking to avenge two early season losses to the Huskies. Continuing to play short-handed due to injury, the Hornets came out strong, exchanging leads with Gould throughout much of the first half. Gould would make a late run in the first half, however, to enter the break up 54-42. Proctor continued to fight throughout the second half, repeatedly cutting the deficit to 5 points, but never able to get over that final hump to take the lead. Credit to Gould for making foul shots down the stretch, and for knocking down big shots all game. Bol Akot '20 (21 points, 8 assists) and Terrell Brown '19 (21 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists) led the Hornets, while Mykel Derring '19 added 17. Proctor has two more games left in the season on Friday (Bradford Christian) and Saturday (Tilton School), and will look to finish out strong and play the role of playoff spoiler.
