Exploring Social Representations with Sarah Palacios

Sarah walked us through the way limited social representations of Indigenous people (and other groups) can perpetuate harmful stereotypes and limit the identity development of young people from those communities. It also limits that way people from outside those communities conceive of one particular identity or another. Sarah pushed us to really consider the images we use in media, the way we teach students to conduct research, and how we approach hiring.

Sarah also attended the Culture and Conflict course as well as a few American Literature classes. We can't wait for her to visit again!
