Uphill Day on the Lake

We knew we had our biggest challenge of the young season and we learned a lot. We know we can battle and work hard, we saw that today. We learned about trying to focus on what we can control - our attitude, our readiness to make plays, staying positive. Our steep climb began early when we didn't convert a PK when Oz Atwood was hauled down in the box, and then minutes later, Brewster was awarded a penalty and scored. They scored again before the half, on a pretty outside shot, and later on an inadvertent hand ball - another PK.

We learned our defense hangs together on a day they were tested. Our midfield battled hard and followed the examples of Pape Diop, Oz Atwood, and especially striker Eric Edmonds who showed his toughness and resolve. Upset about the outcome, we gathered afterward to reset ourselves, recognize we will play Brewster again with a chance to improve on this result, and that we stick together.
