Spring Athletic Awards

The end of each athletic season affords the opportunity to present athletic awards to deserving student-athletes. During Thursday evening's team gatherings, awards were presented to individuals within each team that exhibited outstanding athletic ability and leadership qualities.

During Friday's assembly, Athletic Director Gregor Makechnie presented Marvin Awards to Connor Tedesco (baseball) and Ari Tourtellot (girls' lacrosse). Each season the Marvin Award is presented to a male and female student-athlete new to Proctor whose athletic ability and leadership qualities made a significant contribution to his or her team. Ari and Connor's coaches had the following to say about them:

ARI TOURTELLOT – LACROSSE
"At the start of the Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse season, it was evident that we would need to recruit a field player into the goalie position. Ari accepted this challenge with alacrity. She put on the pads, grabbed the stick, and started practicing the next day. Despite bruises, some tough losses, and a few dangerous shots fired at her, Ari has never complained or changed her mind. She has stood tall in the net, learned to be more aggressive, and made smart plays. Ari’s stick work has improved and she has demonstrated her ability to make the stop, use the clock, and change the momentum of the game. We want to thank and appreciate Ari for her commitment to the team this year." - Liz McNamara

CONNOR TEDESCO – BASEBALL
"Connor Tedesco came to us this year as a post-graduate.  At third base, otherwise known as "the hot corner," he brought stability and consistency to our infield, making play after play.  At the plate, Connor was a force in the middle of our lineup, hitting a couple of game-winning home runs, and donning an on base percentage over .500.  Every day Connor gave 100% during practice.  Some players look for an opportunity to jog when they're supposed to be sprinting, but never Connor.  He led with a quiet confidence, exuding commitment and duty by pushing through the lows and riding the highs with the same stoic attitude - one that said, "we're here to do a job, let's get it done!" Not only did Connor help varsity baseball win games and build positive team culture, he was also a leader in the classroom.  Connor has lived on the academic honor roll all year long, and has taken full advantage of his post graduate year by enrolling in some of the most difficult course offerings at Proctor.  We are saddened that we only had one year with Connor, but know he is ready to move on from Proctor to do much greater things in athletics and in life." - Mark Tremblay
