Meaghan Sheehy '14 Tallies 262 Career Goals

Meaghan Sheehy ‘14 (Wilmot, NH) arrived on Proctor’s campus as a ninth grader ready to make an impact in the girls’ lacrosse program. Beginning as a 4th grader at the New London Outing Club before playing for Upper Valley Lacrosse Club and Team Evo Lacrosse Club, Meaghan developed her lacrosse skills early. Proctor’s coaches knew she would bring athleticism and an innate scoring ability to the field, however, 262 goals later, Sheehy’s impact on Proctor lacrosse and the greater Proctor community has exceeded expectations.

As a ninth grader, Sheehy led the team in scoring with 34 goals en route to earning Proctor's prestigious Marvin Award and New England Private School Women’s Lacrosse Association (NEPSWL) All-Star recognition. A year later, she exploded for 84 goals, 17 assists and 57 ground ball controls in just fifteen games. Sheehy was recognized once again as an NEPSWL All-Star selection, was named team MVP and a 2012 Brine National High School All-American. Her junior and senior seasons were equally impressive as she served as team captain both seasons, scoring 58 goals and recorded 17 assists during her junior campaign and 84 goals during her senior season. She is a four-time NEPSWL All-Star selection and has shattered the scoring record at Proctor with her 262 career goals.

Being an outstanding lacrosse player is one thing, but Sheehy’s contributions to the overall community extend well beyond the playing field as a varsity soccer and lacrosse player. As a member of the Gender Committee at Proctor, Sheehy represented the school at the Independent School Gender Project in 2012 at Hotchkiss School and has since led gender initiatives on campus. She has also been instrumental in organizing fundraising efforts for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and and Fields of Growth Lacrosse International in Kingston, Jamaica where she spent time as a member of their volunteer corp last summer. She just completed a three-week senior project at Proctor that sought to raise funds and awareness for Fields of Growth's mission.

Congratulations to Sheehy on a tremendous career, both on the field and off, and best of luck playing for St. Anselm's College next year!
