Hornets Race w/ Hundreds At Gunstock
Our team was up early to pack waxed skis, food, clothes & all our gear to head to Gunstock Ski Area for our first NH Coaches Series race with a few prep schools and lots more public schools from all over the Granite State. Over 700 skiers! The day was split into A racers in the morning, middle schoolers, then our B racers in the early afternoon. The course got high marks from all - rolling and fast. Despite chilly temps in the teens, skis got waxed after we set up our headquarters, and Buz & Sean again did a fabulous job with both good kick and lightning fast glide. In the A groups, Nathaniel (8th), Jaime, and Matt skied well for the boys, and Katie (3rd place podium!) and Sarah for the girls. Two top ten results were fantastic and all the skiers worked hard. Feasting on an amazing lunch (thanks to all parents who made that happen) provided by Jen and Doug Bent, we kept warm on two types of chili, hot chocolate, and all sorts of snacks. In the aftenoon, Cole, Asher, Rio, Sean & Dan led the charge, and Ingrid and Eva competed for the girls. Lots of fun, good teamwork in helping us organize, and it's so great to see the greater nordic scene (flags, bells, & loud 80s music!), enjoy central NH, and of course glide over other trails.
