Proctor Baseball Bound for Dominican Republic

Proctor's baseball program has a long-standing tradition of taking a Spring Training trip to Florida during March break, however, head coach Mark Tremblay and jv coach Junior De La Hoz proposed a different type of Spring Training for the 2017 season. Working in conjunction with Proctor's four-day immersion program, Project Period, eighteen students and three coaches will travel to Santo Dominigo, Dominican Republic for seven days of baseball training, community service, and life-changing work at the Nuestro Pequenos Hermanos orphanage

Prior to their arrival next week, Coach Tremblay and Coach De La Hoz (fresh off winning a NEPSAC Championship with the girls' basketball team!), gathered donations from the Proctor community to help outfit youngsters at the orphanage with baseball gear. More than 150 pairs of baseball pants, 30 bats, 20 gloves, 30 jerseys, and multiple other items like helmets, catcher's gear, and cleats were collected and shipped to the orphanage this month (see photo of donated gear below). A huge thank you to all those who donated gear, money, and purchased coffee through the team's fundraiser earlier this year!

Be sure to stay tuned for updates from the baseball program in the coming days. While the team's baseball training will absolutely pay dividends upon their return to campus, the impact of this year's trip on both Proctor's students and the children at NPH will last a lifetime!
