Hornets Gain Valuable Experience in Final Scrimmage
In their final tune-up for the early season, Proctor's boys' varsity basketball team hosted Cegep de Sherbrooke for a Saturday afternoon tilt in the Farrell Field House. After back and forth action early in the game, Proctor blew open a 40-20 lead late in the first half on hot shooting from Mykel Derring '19 (40 points). After a few sloppy turnovers just before the half, Sherbrooke closed the halftime deficit to 53-37 in favor of the Hornets. Proctor continued to get up and down the floor in the second half, but struggled to convert offensively, and allowed Sherbrooke to get in the lane at will. Hot shooting late by the visitors cut the 20 point lead Proctor had sustained throughout much of the game to single digits before the final whistle blew. Joining Derring in double figures were Bol Akot '20 (14 points), Terrell Brown '19 (13 points), and Miles Davis '19 (13 points). Proctor opens its season with a road trip to Gould Academy on Wednesday.
