Home Opener Fun Race A Success
The team had lots of fun & learned plenty of race lessons at Proctor's Ski Area (formerly known & still in our hearts as Blackwater Ski Area). Holderness, Vermont, Putney, KUA, St. Paul's, Philips Andover, and Cardigan all came for a sort of warm up scrimmage and pair relay race. We started with a B level race that all our new skiers entered, shifted to a shorter C race, then capped the day with the most experienced skiers whipping around our course. Great stuff. The team has had a fabulous stretch learning to classic ski by working on drills, playing games, and just rolling around our amazing trails (many teams who visited don't have any snow to ski on & were awed by our conditions, not to mention our new lights!). Tomorrow we'll shift to skate skis to start anew on that technique. We've had lots of lessons in our ski room working on ski prep and waxing too.
The coaches are so excited about the responsibility, spirit, and fun that our team is showing in the start to our season. Hats off to Head Coach Buz for managing equipment rentals and purchases - quite a logistical flurry to go with the great snow we're enjoying. We hope to see parents at a future race, and you can also get 'sort of' daily updates by following us on Instagram: proctornordic
