Hornets Struggle in Opener

Proctor’s boys’ varsity basketball team traveled to Gould Academy for their NEPSAC AA opener and ran into a buzz-saw. In a fast paced start to the game, Proctor failed to convert on easy opportunities and Gould took full advantage of the Hornet miscues en route to a 52-19 halftime lead. Proctor battled throughout the second half, but was unable to convert offensive opportunities or sustain the defensive intensity necessary to win games in the highly competitive AA league. Terrell Brown ’19 led the Hornets with 24 points, including 14 of the team’s 19 in the first half, and sustained the team’s energy throughout the game. Bol Akot ’20 added 16 points, and Mykel Derring ’19 13 points in the 62-102 defeat. Proctor looks to rebound against an equally talented Vermont Academy team on Saturday afternoon at the Blackburn Tournament at Worcester Academy.
