JVGP - Our Ephemeral Moment-in-Time
We have a few players on the roster with some experience but we are mostly 1st- and 2nd-year skaters so we are definitely a work-in-progress, but we try to make it more like fun-in-progress. The chaos starts each day when 28 players try to get dressed in a locker room designed for 16-18, and then it spills-and-tumbles out on to the ice as they joyfully take their first cuts on the clean sheet. We’re often the first practice at ‘The Ted’, but somehow we manage to get underway just 25 or 30 minutes after class ends. We’re motivated.
Today’s early-bird event with our hosts at Holderness (consistently a great, fun match-up with Coach Elizabeth Wolf’s spirited squad) gave us a chance to see what we can do…and what we want to work on next. Our game-plan was simple: Be positive and loud, pump up your team mates, move your feet, get it out, stay onside, dump-and-chase, get net-front-presence. We felt pretty good about our efforts today. Our goaltender came up big, our D corps jelled, our forwards ramped up the forecheck, and our healthy scratch unit was raucous. We believe everyone can make a contribution. And have fun. Every Day.
It’ll pass quickly so every day counts. We pack 13 more games into the next 8 school weeks with just 30 more practices. It should be a hoot.
We’re already excited to get back in action next week.
