Hornet Comeback Falls Short
Proctor's boys' varsity basketball team took on Cushing Academy in the first of two games at the St. Andrew's Holiday Classic Friday afternoon. In a back and forth physical matchup between the two teams, Cushing built a 20 point first half leader behind hot shooting (13 three pointers on the day) before Proctor hit back to back threes to end the first half. Down 14 at the break, 30-44, Proctor came out with intensity and focus to start the second half. The Hornets gradually chipped away at the Cushing lead, cutting the deficit to 2 (52-54) with 10:00 to play in the game. Cushing then rebuilt the lead to 14 as Proctor struggled to score for a 5 minute stretch. The Hornets put together one last run, but were unable to overcome the deficit, succumbing to the Penguins 76-81.
Bol Akot '20 and Miles Davis '19 led the Hornets with 19 points a piece, while Mykel Derring '19 added 17.
