Hornets Run and Gun on Pelicans
Proctor's boys' varsity basketball team hosted Class A and new member of the Lakes Region St. Paul's School Wednesday afternoon. From the opening tip, the Hornets played with the tempo they wanted, but St. Paul's was game to run with them, and made the game interesting down the stretch after the Hornets built a 25 point lead early in the second half. Bol Akot '20 continued his strong play on both ends of the floor, and served as the engine behind Proctor's offense scoring 21 points and tallying 11 assists. Mykel Derring '19 was the recipient of many of those assists, leading the team with 30 points, while Terrell Brown's '19 defensive intensity led to five steals and countless transition opportunities en route to his 22 points. Noah Sochaczevski '19 provided a much needed spark off the bench on both ends of the floor, as he returned from a nagging ankle injury that has kept him out most of the season. Kudos to St. Paul's for playing hard until the final buzzer, notching six late three pointers to cut into the Proctor lead and force the Hornets to execute down the stretch. Proctor is off until next Wednesday when they travel to Cushing Academy for a rematch of an early season game that saw the Penguins win by five.
